Poster design for the 2009 Australian Burlesque Festival

I worked withe Australian Burlesque Festival through three successive years, taking the branding into a professional realm and giving them a much tighter image.

We did the print and online identities. Online especially, they had suffered a major hack, so we rebuilt a much stronger WordPress based site and new matching look. At the time, the burlesque search terms were crowded with other agencies and performers, and their own traffic was abysmal. It was essential to get ABF on the online map. The traffic over the festival season was excellent as we’d provided all the performer bios and photos as well as detailed event calendars into the site, making it a really useful point of information about the month long festival.

By the next year, taking advantage of SEO and traffic tricks learned from the first festival, we topped Google’s search term for the word burlesque, and in fact completely owned the first three pages of results (bar the amazing Gypsy Wood, coming in high on the first page!). The ticket sales were all done through the site, which we revamped into new festival graphics each year, and the festival was entirely sold outĀ for the next two years. We could not have achieved a better result.
